I don’t know too much about You, but what I do know are all things that speak to how holy and great You truly are. I wish I knew more, but I can’t dictate the ways in which You reveal Yourself to me. I can read in Scripture that You are mighty, powerful, jealous, King of kings and Lord of lords. You are the One to judge; You have punished and convicted and ordered plagues and annihilations. You are the Name above all names. You give power and authority, and You can take it away. You are majestic and mysterious and uncontainable, indescribable. I also read that you are loving, just, righteous, merciful, and full of grace. You do not delight in the destruction of the wicked, but desire that they all willfully repent and return to You, to live in the freedom You offer and in the way of life. You keep Your promises and You work all out for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. You are our Rock when life’s waves crash over us and the winds beat us down. You are solid, a sure Foundation, Provider of all we need. You prefer obedience in love over any sacrifice or mere words. You see to our hearts, our souls, our depths which even we cannot tread. You search us out. You know us completely and we can trust You completely. Metaphor falls short, words fail, even our ideas and thoughts of You are nothing compared to Your actual Being. Only by Your grace are we able to harbor Your Spirit. You are slow to anger, forgiving, faithful, patient. You work all things in Your time. You are our Creator, our Protector, our Sustainer, our Savior. You made this earth a good and beautiful place; we are the ones who have messed it up and allowed sin to tarnish this world. Your ways are above our ways, and You are the author of wisdom and understanding. You are long-suffering, Lord. And You have chosen a time when You will rule over us all, in peace and in righteousness and as our just and loving King. As our good Shepherd. We will be Your people, and You will be our God. You seek us out when we are lost and love each one of Your children in full. You are unruly and wild and good. Thank You for being exactly who You are, who You have shown Yourself to be in my life every single day. You have proven Yourself time and again when You didn’t need to. Your Word and Your world shout Your praise and reveal You to us in wonderful ways, yet only in part. Thank You for not giving up on us. For not giving up on me. You are our heavenly Father, the one true God, the Alpha and Omega. Thank You for the hope You have given this world!
